Emily can't remember a time when the arts did not call to her.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, Emily was raised in a Southern family with Gospel roots and Friday Night Lights. Emily was entranced with performing as early as 3 years old - in particular the moves of Michael Jackson and Tina Turner (in addition to her dad's CCR vinyls.) It wasn't until her Grandmother, Betty, took her to see her first live theatre experience, "Annie," that she knew how it all fit together.
Emily attended Shenandoah Conservatory and achieved a BFA in Music Theatre. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, Emily moved to New York City. Over the next ten years, she worked professionally in Off-Broadway theatre, Regional theatre and National Tours. She has an Advanced Acting Certificate from the Moscow Art Theatre at Harvard University.
Styled by EKB was born out of her love for transforming herself into a myriad of characters. Encouraged by longtime Ralph Lauren model and photographer, Beau Jones, Emily began as a Makeup Artist for headshot and lifestyle sessions in New York City. She has had the pleasure of "painting" beautiful brides, corporate giants and indie bands. It wasn't long before Emily styled for top models and celebrities including a personal hero, Glenn Campbell. She continued designing makeup & hair in the Theatre world, landing her the cover of American Theatre Magazine for Drama-Desk Winning Reid Farrington's mixed-media staging of A Christmas Carol. Emily was fortunate to assist the legendary Tony-Award Winning costumer designer, Alvin Colt, before his passing.
While pursing these solo creative endeavors, Emily also honed her skills in Special Events. Emily's organizational prowess and ingenious instinct have been the success behind hundreds of events. Her clients and partners have included Compass Group (one of the largest employers in the world,) World-Famous Chef, Wolfgang Puck, and private Celebrity homes. She is proud to have managed challenging events including the World-Premiere of Men in Black 3 on the Intrepid Museum, the Mercedes-Benz lounge at New York Fashion Week, the opening of SPAGO at the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament, and the Academy Awards' Governor's Ball.
In her oh-so-rare-and-precious downtime, EKB is a crazy football fan (HAIL! Roll TIDE!), follows the Yankees religiously, and claims Roger Federer as her tennis boyfriend. She enjoys travel, Hot Yoga, coffee, a good book, and binge-watching Netflix.
